Frequently Asked Questions
What is the deadline to upgrade my membership?
To lock in your current monthly or annual rate until January 1, 2030, you must upgrade your AOR membership by joining The AOR Association before December 31, 2025, at 11:59 PM.
What happens if I choose not to upgrade?
Unless and until you upgrade your AOR membership, you will not receive any of the new benefits including red flag/emergency order coverage, civil liability coverage, expungement/record sealing coverage, affiliate status, or online firearms education and training. Further, if you do not upgrade your AOR membership by December 31, 2025, at 11:59 PM, your monthly or annual rate will be substantially increased. Upgrading your membership is free and does not change the monthly or annual rate or payment date and if completed before December 31, 2025, at 11:59 PM locks in your current rate until January 1, 2030.
If I cancel my membership, can I reenroll later?
Yes, you can reenroll later. However, if more than sixty days have passed since cancellation, your reenrollment will be treated as a new sign-up instead of an upgrade so you will be required to again pay the $100 enrollment fee.
If I, as the primary account holder, upgrade but my family members do not upgrade, will we still be covered?
Yes, all members will remain covered. The upgrade process does not affect your current coverage, but you will not receive any of the new benefits until you upgrade your membership. Family members have a 14-day window to complete their upgrade after the primary account holder upgrades their membership. If the family member does not complete the upgrade within this 14-day window, the primary account holder will be converted to an individual membership.
Why is there a need for a software platform update alongside the new AOR Program?
As part of the continued growth of The AOR Program, we are upgrading our software platform to better meet the demands of our expanding services. This update will ensure that we have a scalable system in place to support future growth. By improving the platform, we aim to enhance efficiency, address current issues, and ultimately provide you with a more seamless and improved overall experience.
When I upgrade, will my credit card be charged?
There is no cost for existing AOR members to upgrade their memberships. Because we do not have access to your credit card information, all members who upgrade will be required to input their credit card payment information upon upgrading. The purpose of this is so the credit card information can be securely stored in the new upgraded system for future charges according to your current payment rate and schedule. If any charge appears, it will be a temporary $1.00 hold to verify your card. Once verified, the $1.00 hold will be refunded to your account within 2-3 business days.
Why do I need to upgrade?
Upgrading is necessary because the new AOR Program involves two separate legal contracts:
- A legal services agreement with The Attorneys For Freedom Law Firm (“AFF”).
- A contract to become an affiliate of The Attorneys On Retainer Association (“The AOR Association”).
Once you upgrade and sign the AOR Association agreement, you will gain access to expanded benefits. These include the AOR Affiliate Program, online self-defense education, civil liability coverage, red flag/emergency order coverage, expungement/set aside coverage and more.
The AOR Association also owns The Attorneys For Freedom Risk Retention Group, Inc. (“RRG”). The RRG insures The AOR Association and all members of the AOR Association. The RRG allows The AOR Program to offer civil liability and red flag coverage to members.
If you upgrade your existing membership or join The AOR Association before December 31, 2025, you will lock in the current rate until 2030, protecting yourself from future price increases until 2030.
What are the new benefits included in The AOR Program?

Is there anything that was included in the old program that is no longer included?

This is because, other than legal advocacy matters The Attorneys For Freedom Law Firm now exclusively handles only self-defense related criminal cases. The Attorneys For Freedom Law Firm is the only law firm in the nation that exclusively handles only self-defense cases. More firearms owners trust The Attorneys For Freedom Law Firm with their self-defense case than any other law firm in the nation.
Is the $100 enrollment fee waived for existing members who upgrade?
Yes, the $100 enrollment fee is waived for all existing members. For existing AOR members, upgrading comes at NO EXTRA COST because we value our loyal AOR members and appreciate your support.
Are you automatically updating all existing members?
No, we are not able to automatically upgrade existing memberships. We have sent an email to inform all existing AOR members that they must take action to upgrade their membership to access the expanded benefits. As a law firm, we prioritize the security of your data and consent, and we do not wish to upgrade your membership without your approval first. There is no downside to upgrading your AOR membership. Is AOR now an insurance company?
No, AOR is not an insurance company. Instead, we have chosen to form a Risk Retention Group (RRG) to provide commercial liability coverage for our members. The name of our RRG is The Attorneys For Freedom Risk Retention Group, Inc. Unlike traditional insurance companies, an RRG is a creature of federal law and is not subject to most state insurance regulations. Unlike traditional insurance companies, an RRG allowed The Attorneys For Freedom Law Firm to write the RRG’s policy. The RRG policy does not contain many of the exclusions commonly found in traditional insurance policies. Indeed, the RRG policy specifically does not exclude criminal acts, illegal weapons, sensitive areas, drug or alcohol use, domestic violence, or prohibited possessors. The attorneys at The Attorneys For Freedom law firm exclusively interpret all aspects of the RRG policy including all coverage determinations. The RRG Policy does not include any recoupment clause.

Once you enter your unique code, all your current information should populate into the form on the screen. Confirm your information is correct.
