Lauren Liberty Takes the Stand - an Introduction to Armed & Fabulous With Lauren Liberty

March 21, 2024

We’re excited to introduce a new addition to The Attorneys On Retainer media lineup, “Armed and Fabulous.” Criminal defense attorneys Marc J. Victor and Andrew Marcantel introduce the host for this new podcast, Lauren Liberty, a team member, paralegal, and Second Amendment advocate. Ms. Liberty brings her perspective to discussions about firearms, self-defense rights, and women’s empowerment within the Second Amendment community.

The Origin of “Armed and Fabulous”

Ms. Liberty explains that the podcast title is a catchy wordplay for achieving a specific goal. She emphasizes that being prepared to defend oneself is not an act of aggression, but a fundamental right protected by the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. The purpose of the podcast is to discuss these themes, especially as they relate to women, while recognizing that self-defense rights are for everyone.

“It’s a play on armed and dangerous, but flipping it on its head. Just because you’re armed doesn’t mean that you’re a danger.”

-Lauren Liberty

The Legal Reality of Gun-Free Zones

Ms. Liberty’s journey toward advocacy began with a traumatic experience. After moving from New York to Florida, she was attacked and nearly abducted in a “gun-free zone.”

“Thinking I’m doing the right thing, I left my firearm at home… I was stalked by a guy who found me online and he grabbed me by my arms and was dragging me to his vehicle.”

-Lauren Liberty

Gun-free zones, often disarm law-abiding citizens and do little to deter criminals. These areas are designated as “sensitive places” under various state laws. However, they make individuals more vulnerable, not safer.

“These legislators and anti-gun groups will try to say they know what’s best for you… They have absolutely no understanding of how truly dangerous it is to do that.”

Victim to Advocate

After relocating to Arizona, Ms. Liberty immersed herself in the freedom advocacy community. She got involved with Women for Gun Rights and quickly found herself testifying before the Arizona legislature about proposed firearm laws. She explains that one senator’s flippant remark in response highlights the importance of civic engagement.

“He said, ‘If you’re so scared all the time, just stay home…’ these are the people that are deciding our freedoms and our rights every day this is unacceptable.”

What To Expect From the Show

Each episode will feature guests sharing personal stories, practical tips, and legal insights on firearm ownership and self-defense from a female perspective. The podcast aims to make the Second Amendment more accessible, especially for women who may feel excluded from the broader firearms community.

“It’s not just big macho men – the Second Amendment is for everyone.”

-Lauren Liberty

Conclusion

Ms. Liberty’s new podcast is set to become an essential resource for women and anyone who values liberty, self-defense, and the rule of law. Whether you’re a seasoned gun owner or just beginning to explore your rights, this show will offer both inspiration and education.

“It is absolutely normal to be able to defend yourself. There is no shame in it.”
